Who We Are

 

We are Tennis! The United States Tennis Association (USTA) is the national governing body for the sport of tennis and the recognized leader in promoting and developing the sport’s growth on every level in the U.S. The Hawaii Pacific Section is one of 17 geographic Sections of the USTA. Incorporated in 1973, the Hawaii Pacific Section embraces over 7,800 individual members and 109 organizational members in Hawaii, American Samoa, Guam, and the Northern Marianas. In addition, the Hawaii Pacific Section is further comprised of four Community Tennis Organizations: Kauai, Maui, East Hawaii & West Hawaii. The Hawaii Pacific Section is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to carrying out the goals of the national association within its region, particularly with respect to promoting tennis opportunities for juniors and adults of all abilities and all cultural backgrounds.

Who You Are

 

  • High school degree, college preferred.

     

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Prior management experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of tennis and tennis playing experience required.
  • Tennis coaching or teaching experience is required.
  • Tennis Link/NTRP ME
  • Able to frequently sit and stand for extended periods, and to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to travel to neighboring Islands and some mainland travel.

This is a full-time position with a salary of $50,000 plus benefits and additional income from Play & Learn classes.

The Role:

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop, promote and administer the Adult Red Ball program. (60%)
  • Conduct the Schools Tennis Program and conduct student and teacher training (20%)
  • Conduct Play & Learn classes (10%)
  • Organize all Expos, fairs, festivals and tennis special events (10%)

Essential Duties:

  • Write the guidelines and marketing plan for the Adult Red Ball program.
    • Organize classes, leagues and tournaments.
    • Order all supplies and equipment.
    • Make all court reservations.
  • Complete USTA Schools Training.
    • Conduct in school student training and training for teachers and afterschool providers.
    • Coordinate equipment packages for schools
  • Conduct Play & Learn classes in conjunction with the Community Tennis Coordinator and the class schedule.
  • Organize all tennis expos, fairs and festivals to include registration, staffing, equipment & supplies, demonstrations and promotion.

Other Duties:

  • Assist with other section events and activities.

Working Conditions: Indoors, air-conditioned office for administrative work and outdoors on the tennis court.
Work Hours:
Minimum 40 hours a week, including evenings, Saturdays and Sundays.
Equipment Use:
10 key calculator, computer applications including Microsoft Office, TMS. Also, use of copy machine, FAX and postage meter.
